Why no biography?
“I just said Fritz because I didn’t know what else to say.”
“I’m selective with my followers in that I only follow them if I’ve talked to them before. I might not follow someone I’ve talked to before if we haven’t talked in a while or I can’t remember you as a person.”
“I’m public so anyone can see my account but I’ll block people if something happened between us and I didn’t want them to look at my account anymore.”
“An important thing when i was in high school was having a ‘good ratio’ of who follows you compared to who you follow. Now I don’t care anymore but I’ll still sometimes think ‘Ooh she has a good ratio,’ I don’t know why I care.”
Who do you imagine is seeing your posts?
“Boys. Sometimes if my clothing looks risky I’ll think ‘Oh, my dad can see this.’ That makes me debate wether to post or not. With my sorority I can’t post any beverages or about going to a frat. Even a red solo cup or a vape cannot be on my Instagram. When they see it they report it to you and you have to take it down within 24 hours or you get fined.”
“I use the story feature for birthdays or when I want to repost something. I don’t repost a lot but if it’s something I think is interesting, a fundraiser for my sorority, or pictures someone else posted and I’m in them, I’ll add to my story.”
“I post things on my story that I wouldn’t want on my grid for a long time, like a birthday post.”
“I’m very conscious about what I post publicly, because I know how much of an issue it is. I don’t say anything that would get me canceled because I don’t fall under any of those categories. But even like vapes, drinking, I’ll keep in mind that I do have a digital footprint.”
“I chose a picture you could really see my face in, so that when you look me up you can tell it’s me right away.”
“Captions on the transactions are usually pretty straightforward. If it’s for food I’ll just put ‘Food’. Unless it’s something illegal or inappropriate, then I’ll just do like an emoji.”
“I had zero clue my account is public. I’ve never even known there was a privacy setting.”
“I never think about how the transactions can be seen by other people, so it doesn’t effect how I behave on the app.”
“I think my whole main communication with everyone is through Snapchat, besides like family, and it’s usually just through pictures. For people I actually talk to it will be like a Snap-text.”
Why is Snapchat your favorite?
“I think that’s because that’s how it was in high school. I also don’t really like giving out my number to people because I have had bad past experiences where people took advantage of having my number. I think on Snapchat you don’t have to respond to messages in the same way. Or that on Snapchat it’s more obvious when you don’t respond to messages.”
“I don’t really post on my public story anymore. But if I did it would be like a picture of me and my friend/s about to go out.”
“When I’m talking to someone one-on-one, it’s usually a selfie with text. Unless it’s an urgent conversation, in which case it will be through the texting box.”
“I actually have 2 private stories. One is bigger and has all the people I would consider my friends, I think it’s like 30 people? On my other story it’s just like really close girl friends.
